Amaryllis - La Paz

Hippeastrum papilio x cybister

🌺Simply extraordinary.🌺

RARE. Featuring extraordinary, beautiful, star-shaped flowers, this unusual Amaryllis is a tropical showstopper! The unique, spidery-thin bicolor blooms feature upper colors ranging from deep coral to cherry red, and lower colors of greenish-ivory, edged in dark coral. Each incredible, sculptural bloom looks like a hand painted work of art, with softly waved edges and fine darker veining. The refined blooms are held on strong, upright stems above wide, strap-like fleshy foliage.

Grow these indoors in pretty containers, in bright rooms full of light, where they can be a dazzling focal point.

These unique plants make great gifts, or add them to your personal collection. La Paz Amaryllis are excellent choices for gardeners who already love Amaryllis and want something truly different, as well as anyone looking for a spectacular plant to grow during winter. With proper care, these plants can last for many years. Please note that 'La Paz' Amaryllis, while still very large, are naturally smaller plants than the giant Amaryllis most are familiar with.

💡- These are best grown in bright, filtered light.

Zones 9-11. These tender perennials are grown in containers here in WNC, and enjoyed indoors during winter.

💚Plant Nerd: 'La Paz' means 'The Peace'. These incredible bulbs usually bloom 8-12 weeks after planting.

🌎Where in the world? 'La Paz' Amaryllis plants are hybrids lovingly crossed by the late Fred Meyer, with the parent plants native (including one once thought to be extinct!) to Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina. In fact, it was Fred Meyer himself who found some of the remaining wild plants, in an area that was once vast wild forests, but now mostly cut down for sugarcane and coffee plantations, and later used for urban development. Fred's life was tragically cut short in 1999, but his spectacular plants are celebrated, cherished, and highly sought after to this day. We only source our bulbs and plants - of premium quality - from reputable suppliers.
