💚Plant Nerd: Did you know? Chrysanthemums have been cultivated for over 3000 years! They were introduced to America in 1798. Although they are technically perennials, these mums are usually grown as annuals here in WNC.

🍵Culinary usage: While we enjoy these plants as brilliant and beautiful fall blooming ornamentals, they have a long history of culinary usage in East Asia, including the dried flowers for herbal tea/tisane and the foliage eaten as cooked greens. The flowers have also been used for Chrysanthemum wine, believed to promote longevity, a traditional beverage in China for 2000 years.
