'Illumination Flame' Foxglove
Digitalis x valinii (D. purpurea x D. canariensis) PP25442
Stunning hybrid plants with tropical colored peachy-pink flowers that bloom and bloom and bloom! They have a clumping habit with narrow columnar flower spikes - densely packed, and with many side branches. These unique sterile plants are well-behaved and will not spread. Perfect for bringing warm, exotic vibes to cool sunny and lightly shady areas!
Uses: Containers, borders, massed in the landscape, pollinator gardens, shade gardens, and more!
🌸Bloomathon - remove spent flower stems and feed to encourage re-blooming.
🐝Pollinators - ideal for bees and hummingbirds.
🦌Deer want nothing to do with these plants.
Happiest in full to partial sun, in moist, well-draining soils in cool locations.
36"T x 24"W.
Zone 8b, cold hardy down to 15°F.
💚Plant Nerd: These intriguing plants from plant breeder Charles Valin are unique crosses of Foxgloves, between hardy Digitalis purpurea and its tropical relative Isoplexis canariensis from the Canary Islands. They are technically 'tender perennials' which means that they can be brought indoors to overwinter. Most gardeners will probably prefer to grow them as annuals here in WNC. They are not cold hardy outdoors through winter here.
These plants prefer cooler nights. If they are placed in a location where the nights are warm, they may temporarily stop blooming.
