Go BIG, Go BOLD, Go GROSSO!

BIG flowers with BOLD fragrance! Blooming well into Autumn, extend your Lavender growing season with 'Grosso' - full of densely packed, deep violet flower spikes atop tall sturdy stems. 'Grosso' has a exceptionally potent and complex fragrance.

The thick, tapered and subtly blue-grey-green foliage grows in naturally compact mounds.

'Grosso' is wonderful for cut flowers, for lavender wands, sachets, culinary, and herbal medicine uses. The oils in 'Grosso' Lavender are also renowned for their healing abilities, from muscle relaxation, to aiding mental clarity, to aiding minor skin issues and have mild anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties. Add some of the fresh or dried flowers to your bath for a spectacular self-care extra treat!

Due to the potent oils, Lavender is naturally deer resistant.

Lavender needs extremely well draining soil, best in raised beds and in containers.

  • Happiest in 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
  • Grows to ~24-30” T x W. 'Grosso' can be wider than it is tall.
  • Cold hardy to zone 6 (-10F).

Lavandula x intermedia 'Grosso'

Plant Nerd: Lavendula x intermedia is a naturally occurring hybrid of Lavendula angustifolia (English Lavender) and Lavendula latifolia (Portuguese Lavender). Grosso Lavender was discovered growing in France in 1972 by Pierre Grosso.

Lavender likes "sweet" soil, with a pH around 7. Soil in our area tends to be quite acidic. In lieu of a recent soil test, plant Lavender with generous amounts of lime.
